Start with a separate identity
- Pick a stage name you have never used anywhere else online.
- Create a new email address just for your creator accounts, and never link it to your personal ones.
- Use different usernames from your personal social media, so a search for one does not find the other.
- Turn on two-factor authentication everywhere.
Check every photo and video before posting
The background of a photo can give away as much as your face. Before posting, look for anything that could place you: post, letters or parcels with your address, the view from a window, local landmarks, school or work logos, distinctive tattoos, jewellery or furniture that also appears on your personal accounts.
Reflections in mirrors, glasses and screens are easy to miss, so check those too.
Remove location data from your files
Phone photos can store where they were taken. Many platforms strip this data when you upload, but files you send elsewhere may keep it. Turn off location tagging in your camera settings, and use a metadata remover before sharing files outside the platform. [VERIFY: current metadata handling of each platform named]
Use your platform’s privacy settings
Some platforms let you block visitors from chosen countries or regions, which can stop people near you from finding your page. Settings change over time, so check what your platform currently offers and review it every few months.
Can I be completely anonymous?
To the public, largely yes. To the platform, no: subscription platforms verify your identity and age before paying you, and that information is kept by them rather than shown on your page. Anonymity is about controlling what your audience can find, not hiding from the platform itself.
